The Government delegate, Rafael González Tovar, announced today that the State Infrastructure and Equipment SA Prisons has awarded the consortium composed of Control and Industrial Assembly CYMI SA and the SA Security CYMI work safety facilities Prison Levante i, 6,981,378.69 euros.
Tovar Gonzalez recalled that the said prison is being built in the municipality of Campos del Rio, and that, once operational, will allow more than 1,000 natural internal or resident in the Region of Murcia and is currently serving a sentence outside Autonomous Community can do on it.
Moreover, the new center, which will have 1,008 residential and 186 additional cells will contribute to alleviating the plight of the Green Sangonera prison.
The works, which is scheduled for late 2010, will involve an investment of over EUR 114 million during construction and will employ about 500 workers.
This new prison infrastructure is completed by the Social Integration Centre (CIS) are also being built in the Region of Murcia.
The construction of both facilities was approved by the Government of Spain in December 2005.
