The municipal government is taking another step to improve public safety in Campos del Rio.

Last October, the Mayor and City Council Public Safety held a meeting with the Minister of Presidency, Manuel Campos, among other things to promote the creation of local police forces that the City has been calling for several years.

This meeting served to further processing the case, which ended with the Order of the Counsellor for allowing the City of Campos del Rio to create the Local Police Force with a corporal and 4 agents.

So far, the legislation called for a sergeant, a corporal and 6 agents to form the Local Police, but contemplated the possibility of lowering this requirement in municipalities with small populations such as the Campos del Rio.

Now it is up to the municipal government to begin legal proceedings to form the body, with the modification of staff and implementation of an internal promotion process between the Auxiliary Police currently have the City Council.

The creation of Local Police is part of the package of municipal government to improve and increase public safety in Campos del Rio, since agents may be armed.

In the same vein, on 31 January, the Mayor and other members of the Municipal Government held a meeting with the Government Delegate in Murcia to ask for greater presence of the Guardia Civil in Campos del Rio, and increased strength of this Mula body in order to tackle the wave of robberies that have taken place in the area.

It was also proposed the convocation, in the near future, the Local Security Board to promote coordination between the Civil Guard and local police for the same purpose.

Moreover, the mayor holds regular meetings with Councilor of Public Safety, Antonio Perez, the local police and members of Civil Protection in order to review and improve protocols for coordination of all municipal services involved.

The aim is to work for all citizens of Campos del Rio are and will be increasingly safer.
