The day of Saturday continued with another of the most anticipated events and of special relevance as was the inauguration of the new Municipal Archive located in the Training Center that has been adapted to accommodate these new facilities.
A work that has been possible thanks to the work of Cristina Sarabia and Melanie Garrido and that has counted from its beginnings with the important collaboration of the Official Chronicler of Fields of the River, Matías Valverde, del that receives his name the new municipal dependancy.
The mayor explained at the opening ceremony that "the objective pursued with this new service, is that all historical documentation is available at all times in a chronologically orderly so that anyone interested can consult it and that thanks to the effort and commitment de Matías, today is a reality, just as this government team committed. "
The inaugural ceremony was attended by members of the municipal corporation, chroniclers of municipalities in the Region of Murcia, as well as many representatives of civil society of the municipality who witnessed the moment in which the mayor and the chronicler, discovered the plaque of the new Archive Municipal, after which, authorities and guests toured the premises.
The Municipal Archive's mission is to collect, guard, organize, preserve and disseminate the documents generated by the City Council throughout its history, in order to make them available to the municipal administration itself, to facilitate the achievement of its purposes , and citizens, for information, resolution of administrative matters and historical research.
This archive preserves documents from around 1900 and for its implementation has been an arduous work that has consisted of different and meticulous previous tasks such as organizing all the documents accumulated since that year, the preparation of the files with a view to a correct conservation, selection of documents for the purpose of elimination or final conservation, the organization of the fund, which implies the application of the Classification Chart and its arrangement, following the most appropriate criteria for each documentary series.
Planning and putting into operation of the computerization systems of the description and internal management tools has also been carried out.
In the computer system you will find enough information to find a certain document.
The boxes are arranged by subject and within them by date of seniority, although in the course of the work have appeared previous boxes that have had to be included later.
In this classification table, each box bears a reference as to the subject matter, the corresponding years, organ from which it emanates, whether it is a serial fraction or a complete documentary unit, if it is a book or folder and, finally, those documents that require it, a more specific information that clarifies exactly what it is about.
The file is divided into subjects or groups, which in our case are four.
1º.
City Hall: Includes all documents that correspond to it, such as registration and exit, correspondence.
2º.
Administration.
3º.
Services: Public and private works, fifths, culture, education.
4th
Intervention: Everything related to the accounts, treasury.
Apart from these groups is the Court of Peace, since it is an independent body of the City Council and has its own classification.
Despite being an independent body, its boxes are ordered equally with the rest of the subjects, but clearly differentiated both in the box itself and in the computer system.
In addition, the boxes can contain several folders or several books so they are listed inside and so is reflected in the computer system.
To make use of it, an application must be made at the Town Hall about what is to be consulted and contact information so that the responsible municipal technician can make an appointment with the person concerned, dedicating the necessary time.
