The city of Lorca has delivered tonight the Diploma of Distinguished Services posthumously to the champion Juan Martín Atenza Almagro during the ceremony held at the Guerra Theater where the Honors and Distinctions of the municipality were presented for the celebration of the feast of the patron of the city, San Clemente.
The first deputy mayor of Campos del Río, Antonia López, wanted to accompany the relatives of Juan Martín Atenza tonight where the city of Lorca granted such an important recognition to one of our most beloved campers, after the plenary agreement of the Lorca council, that decided unanimously this concession to our countryman.
The mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, was commissioned to make public that "will be recognized with the Diploma of Distinguished Services posthumously to Juan Martín Atenza Almagro, for his extraordinary personal and professional contribution in the exercise of his position as Chief Officer of the Intervention Service of the City of Lorca, emphasizing always for its magnificent work and ability to contribute to the development of administrative tasks of the Consistory and, above all, an exceptional vocation of service to the people of Lorca ".
His death on May 6, in the course of the third edition of the Ultramarathon mountain bike La Iruela-Natural Park of the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas, was a huge consternation to the entire Lorca Consistory, motivating the declaration of 3 days of official mourning in Lorca.
Gil described the work of Atenza Almagro as "outstanding at all times for his full knowledge of the Law and of the alternatives to facilitate the management and achievement of multiple procedures and projects that have significantly improved the quality of life of all Lorca".
The first deputy mayor of the country, Antonia López, visibly moved at the moment when Moisés Atenza Almagro, brother of Juan Martín, picked up the Diploma of Distinguished Services from the mayor of Lorca, declared that this is "a deserved recognition that puts once again, the good work, the professionalism and the love that was for all Juan Martín ".
For its part, the mayor of Campos del Rio, María José Pérez Cerón, regretted not being able to attend the event and transmitted on behalf of the City of Campos del Río and all the campers, their thanks to the municipal corporation of Lorca, at the same time that it highlighted again, the great human quality of our beloved Juan Martín Atenza;
and to the thread remembered that the past September, the plenary session of the City council of Campos del Rio, agreed unanimously the concession to posthumous title to Juan Martín Atenza Almagro, of the Gold Medal and the appointment of Favorite Son of Fields of the River, maximum recognition institutional that this City Council can offer this exemplary neighbor.
In addition to calling the Municipal Sports Complex with the name of Juan Martín Atenza Almagro.
