"The intention of this City Council is to maintain the facilities and assets of Halcón Foods in Campos del Río so that the factory can reopen as soon as possible"
The mayor of Campos del Rio, María José Pérez Cerón, accompanied by the Councilor for Environment, Water, Livestock, Agriculture and Rural Environment, Juan Mateo Flomesta, has held a working meeting with the Minister of Employment, Universities, Business and Environment of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, Javier Celdrán and the INFO director, Joaquín Gómez.
At the meeting María José Pérez Cerón has put on the table the urgent need to find a viable solution to the state in which the Halcón Foods factory is located in the municipality - which since its closure led to the loss of several hundred jobs work in the municipality and the rest of the region - a company that together with its facilities are immersed in a long process in the courts, something that translates into the lack of jobs in the municipality.
Pérez Cerón has valued the assets that the company has in the municipality within its productive unit, including facilities and existing machinery, so he has asked the counselor that the Regional Government, as the main creditor of the company, maintain the security and surveillance of the facilities so that they do not suffer damage or are subject to vandalism, since "the intention of this City Council is to maintain the facilities and assets of Halcón Foods in Campos del Río so that finally once resolved the proceedings in the courts, it is possible to return to restore the activity in the factory, which would mean an economic revulsion in the municipality recovering hundreds of jobs in Campos del Río ", informed Pérez Cerón at the end of the meeting.
The meeting also dealt with different topics of current municipal reference to the competencies of the counseling and will be studied by both administrations.
