The general secretary of the PSRM-PSOE, Diego Conesa criticizes the regional government for the abandonment of the peoples of the interior and requires political will and budget to address this issue.
"We have a great challenge and active policies are necessary to avoid the depopulation of the small municipalities of the Region and to improve the lives of the people who live in them.
The regional government can not continue to ignore this reality and must have political will and arrange items in regional budgets, to materialize it.
Conesa denounced the inaction of the regional government, which despite having 300,000 euros for analysis of small municipalities, have not been implemented;
on the contrary, they have dedicated themselves to suffocate economically the affected municipalities and have bet more on the coast, to the detriment of the interior of the Region.
"Although the Government of López Miras does not want to see it, it is a reality that we have in the Region of Murcia and that suffer several municipalities, where the aging of the population and the abandonment of land and housing is common in most districts and county councils of the zone of the mountain and interior ".
Measures to take
Specifically, the Socialists have consisted in canceling the debts caused by investments before 2012, which had not been managed, mostly with PP governments;
and on the other hand, the exoneration in the payment of the fees in the Fire Extinction Consortium.
Diego Conesa proposes four fundamental social measures to be implemented: in housing policy, education from zero to three years, improving mobility, and creating employment;
"To end the current inequality in the living conditions of the inhabitants of these municipalities and to which the regional government has not been sensitive in these 23 years."
In terms of housing, he stressed the need for improvement and rehabilitation of the homes of these people, to encourage families to stay.
Conesa recalled that the Government of Spain has signed an agreement with the autonomous communities for which the State contributes 62 million euros and the Community 17 million.
Regarding Education, he stressed the importance of having classrooms from zero to three years, so that young people do not leave and their children can go to school.
He also emphasized the need for a good transport service to guarantee quality of life for the elderly and young people.
Finally, he stressed the need to create stable and quality employment in these municipalities to favor the permanence, especially of young people, as well as support programs for entrepreneurs and incentives for the creation of businesses and agricultural cooperatives.
For its part, the mayor of Campos del Rio and general secretary of the socialist campers, María José Pérez Cerón, thanked the PSOE of the Region of Murcia for the election of Campos del Río to celebrate this important meeting and stressed that depopulation and aging of our municipalities are "a pressing and very serious problem".
The socialist regidorra lamented that "we are depopulated by the policies of the regional government of the Popular Party" and said that "in our municipalities we feel very abandoned by the regional administration," adding that the measures and proposals that the PSOE is discussing today in Campos del Rio "go in the direction of getting a preferential attention to these areas that are the forgotten ones, despite the fact that there is a great quality of life, very healthy and attractive for both young and old.
However, without adequate services and infrastructures such as new roads for communication, mobility plans and investment in accessible housing for young people, we will not be able to solve the problem, "he concluded.
