The Deputy Speaker of the Socialist Parliamentary Group Alfonso Martínez Baños calls on the Community to include in the regional budgets for 2019 the cost of the service of the Infant School of the municipality of Campos del Río.
Martínez Baños explained that the City of Campos del Río "is making a major effort" to keep the day-care center running, whose annual cost is 215,000 euros.
"Taking into account that the fees paid by parents only amount to 42,000 euros, the City is obliged to pay the rest, which represents in some exercises almost 20% of the total budgeted."
On the other hand, the cost that supports this City Council is around 2 million euros per year, which makes it very difficult to reduce municipal financial debt, which has gone from 377,000 euros in 2008 to 2,010,000 euros in 2016.
The socialist deputy spokesman has presented a motion in the Assembly in which he explains that the municipality of Campos del Río and also its City Council are suffering the consequences of the economic crisis that began in 2008, and of which they have not been able to overcome, having one of the lowest available gross income in the Region.
This fact has led to a progressive depopulation of the municipality towards larger cities, which affects the municipal coffers.
From 2008 to 2017, the population of this municipality has gone from 2,212 inhabitants to 2,022.
The total number of births for ten years is only 0.12% of the regional total.
"The City Council, as the closest administration, is forced to continue maintaining the services it provides with fewer and fewer resources, and this decrease has had a knock-on effect on other sectors."
Martínez Baños says that between 2009-2017 the number of establishments has increased from 147 to 122;
and multinationals like Halcón Food have disappeared.
Industrial investment in the last ten years only represents 0.02% of the regional total.
