Tourism invests about € 200,000 in the hostel future Campos del Río (19/10/2010)

The Director General of Tourism, Marina García, today visited the restoration of the old train station in Campos del Rio to convert into a shelter, and for which the Ministry of Culture and Tourism allocated about 200,000 euros through the Via Consortium Northwest Green.

The hostel is equipped with 16 to 18 places of accommodation and it is expected that the works are completed in early 2011.

Garcia, who was accompanied by the mayor of Campos del Río, Miguel Navarro, and the manager of the Tourist Consortium of the Northwest Greenway, Juan Soria, said that "in such a small space have made good all the meters and the building has fully recovered to the village of Campos del Rio and to give service to people who wander along the Via Verde. "

Moreover, "this infrastructure will allow Campos del Rio has its first tourist accommodation," he added.

On the ground floor of the building will be located bedrooms, one with disabled access, and a warehouse.

On the upper floor is located a kitchen and a multipurpose room.

Greenway Investment

Between 2009 and 2010 the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, through the Northwest Greenway Consortium, spent more than four million euros for the construction of a hostel in the hamlet of 'El Llano de Caravaca de la Cruz, and completed, and the rehabilitation of the season of light to use it to shelter and amenities at the halt of the Niño de Mula.

Also were carried out works of adaptation and rehabilitation of old railway stations Cehegín, Caravaca Albudeite and to turn them into shelters, as well as forest restoration and other works of adaptation of greenway between Baños de Mula and Caravaca de la Cruz.

The Northwest Greenway part of an old railway route between Murcia and Caravaca de la Cruz, in disuse since 1971.

Part since 1999 of one of the main axes of the Red Green and Western Mediterranean region of Murcia.

It extends from Baños de Mula to Caravaca de la Cruz, with a total of 48 kilometers, journey that has a huge variety of landscapes alternating with areas of arid mountains, pines and almonds.

This European project provides for the continuity of the route to connect to Andalusia.
